Throughout the year SANEC organises activities and events both in South Africa and the Netherlands, which provide members with an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and experiences, and make contacts which are essential to the development of new, mutually beneficial relationships. Furthermore SANEC also promotes activities and cultural events organised by others, which are of interest to members. Members do not only meet existing contacts during these events, but more importantly gain access to a new network and thus meeting potential clients.

Events organised are Business Luncheons and Business Breakfast sessions, Trade & Investment Gala Dinner, regular Cocktail receptions and Meet & Greets, with prominent private and public sector guest speakers. Informal events include the annual South African Golf Event. New events planned for 2008 are amongst others the SANEC Business Cricket Clinic and a seminar on Corporate Social Responsibility.

The year 2007 started off with a number of exiting events, the AFC AJAX Amsterdam visit to Cape Town, South Africa and the Business Luncheon with Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk, Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism of South Africa in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

On the occasion of the visit of AFC AJAX Amsterdam; players, officials and members of the AJAX Business Associates Club to Cape Town, SANEC was asked to organise a special business event. This event was the AJAX Open 2007 an 18-holes golf tournament that was concluded with a business dinner, co-hosted by South African Tourism and the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Cape Town. Many members and business relations of AJAX Amsterdam, AJAX Cape Town and SANEC attended this event, which emphasized the ties between sports and business and the importance of sports in the lives of so many South African youngsters.

Minister Van Schalkwyk, Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism of South Africa visited the Netherlands in January 2007 to visit amongst others the Vakantiebeurs (the biggest consumer oriented trade fair for the tourism industry) in Utrecht. In cooperation with South African Tourism SANEC organised a Business Luncheon for members and business relations during the visit of Minister Van Schalkwyk. At the Business Luncheon Minister Van Schalkwyk addressed the audience on the World Cup 2010, the Impact on Tourism and Investments in South Africa.

During the year numerous events have taking place in South Africa and the Netherlands some in light of visiting trade delegations and others to inform members on certain key issues. Amongst others there was a group of South African women entrepreneurs visiting the Netherlands in April. SANEC was involved in assisting Stichting Yente with the organisation of this trade mission. Regarding informing members and business relations on key issues SANEC organised the BBBEE workshop in cooperation with Services SETA and DHV.

Furthermore SANEC participated in a number of Trade Fairs and Exhibitions, for example the Emigration Fair in Nieuwegein in March 2007 and Fresh Rotterdam in September 2007 in  the Netherlands and the Soccerex in Johannesburg in November 2007. Many events and activities are not only arranged to benefit members, but are also organised in close cooperation with our members.
