Eastern Cape Development Cooperation’s study visit to the Netherlands

South Africa’s Eastern Cape Development Cooperation (ECDC) is in the Netherlands for a study visit focusing on the top-sector Agro food. SANEC informed the delegation about the Netherlands Agro, Food & Technology Centre (NAFTC) Southern Africa.

NAFTC Southern Africa is a joint initiative with the Dutch Association GMV/FME that is aimed at safeguarding food security in the future. The driver behind this initiative is to position Dutch know-how on food production in the local Southern Africa markets.  It focuses on facilitating business, lead generation and business development for Dutch organisations in the Agro food value chains (fresh produce, organic, potato, dairy and meat & feed).

The NAFTC is supported by the Metropolitan Food Security (MFS) Foundation, Association GMV/FME and the Dutch Embassy and Consulate General in South Africa. For more information about the NAFTC Southern Africa please click here.

In addition, SANEC shared recent business activities with a focus on the Eastern Cape, such as representation efforts for the East London Industrial Zone (IDZ), an Eastern Cape (tourism) event in Amsterdam last year and most recently a match made between East London IDZ and the VDL Group (automotive industry) in the Netherlands. SANEC is looking forward to continuing and deepening its business facilitation efforts for the Eastern Cape.
