Large part of investments in Africa come from the Netherlands

According to Financieel Dagblad (a renowned Dutch newspaper), one in five fast growing investments in Africa is initiated in the Netherlands. Many multinationals have placed their African activities with a Dutch representative office, because of the favourable fiscal and legal environment of the Netherlands.

One of the causes is that the Netherlands has a tax covenant with 10 African countries and a bilateral investment covenant with 27 African countries. Although the Netherlands has no such covenant with Angola, there is a large business interest in this fast growing economy as well. This shows that the Dutch tax laws are favourable for investments in development countries, even when there is no covenant.
