Malawi and Tanzania: Dutch Government invests in agro sector

The Clinton Foundation has announced a partnership with the Government of the Netherlands to implement Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) in Malawi and Tanzania. The Government of the Netherlands will invest $3 million to expand the Clinton Development Initiative's (CDI) smallholder farming program, adopted by President Banda in September 2012 as a cornerstone of Malawi's national agriculture strategy.

"Ensuring food security under a changing climate is one of the major challenges of our era. Agriculture is the solution to this challenge," said Minister Dijksma. Therefore she encourages Dutch companies and science institutions that are focused on the agricultural sector to share their knowledge internationally. In this way, African farmers are provided with the knowledge and tools to make food supply more sustainable.
