Signing of MOU between NWP and Rand Water

NWP Director Lennart Silvis and Mr Dinizulu Sechemane, CEO of Rand water, have signed an MOU that should lead to more cooperation between the Dutch water sector and South Africa on 22 July 2013.

Rand Water and Dutch water sector organizations will collaborate on topics like capacity development and exchange of students and young professionals and technological innovation. In addition, Rand Water would like to contribute to the setting up of CMAs in South Africa, with support and knowledge from the Netherlands. The cooperation between NWP and Rand Water will focus in the short term on supporting the establishment of the Rand Water Academy (RWA), the involvement of Rand Water in the Centre of Expertise in eThekwini (Durban) and the joint presentation of results during IWW2013 (Amsterdam) and WISA2014 (Nelspruijt).

In 2012, SANEC organized WISA2012 in cooperation with NWP, the Dutch Embassy and Consulate and WISA. During WISA2012, 22 students that participated in the Wetskills-challenge were part of the Dutch delegation and NWP was able to mobilize funding for an attractive ‘amber conference sponsorship’ because of the many organizations participating and through support of the Dutch Government.
