Dear SANEC Member or Associate,

If yes, you are therefore cordially invited to meet the Agricultural delegation from the Congo, which will visit the Netherlands from the 22nd until the 27th of November 2015.

Agri & Food in DR Congo:

With a vast amount of land available, of which approximately 80 million hectares is arable and fertile, with an annual rainfall of about 1,000 mm, the country offers ideal conditions for the agricultural sector to flourish and expand in the near future. The DRC has an existing large diversity of climatological conditions and soil varieties, each region in the DR Congo offers different potential for agricultural activities. Currently, Congo’s most important agricultural export products are tobacco, green coffee, raw sugar, natural dry rubber and bran of wheat. The top 4 export countries are China, Belgium, South-Korea and Finland.

In 2014, the economic growth of the DR Congo was at 9%, a trend which the African Development Bank expects to be sustained. Currently, commercial agriculture is limited; only 10% of the arable land is used for agriculture. The country has made significant steps in creating a more favourable environment for business in various sectors, in brief, The DR Congo offers a lot of potential for Dutch businesses in the Agri & Food Sector.
