Networking & Corporate Functions

Throughout the year SANEC provided members with opportunities to meet, network, exchange ideas and experiences. Members are introduced to each other and these contacts are essential to develop new, mutually beneficial business relationships. Furthermore SANEC promotes activities and cultural events organised by others, which are of interest to members. Members do not only meet with existing contacts during these events, but more importantly gain access to a new network and thus meeting potential clients or partners.

A short overview of our events:

Members in Business Cocktails
Every quarter SANEC members get together at the ´Members in Business Cocktail´. The cocktails are held at various exciting venues in cooperation with one of SANEC’s partners. These cocktails are often built around a specific sector, with key note speakers on topic. It also provides our members with the opportunity to meet and network. New members are also introduced. During these cocktails, SANEC staff will be present to discuss your business needs and questions as well as making sure you meet those you want to meet. A great opportunity for members to meet, share match and learn.

“Hosting the Members in Business Cocktail at the Van Oord headquarters in Rotterdam gave us the opportunity to familiarise our guests with our activities in dredging, offshore oil & gas and offshore wind, worldwide and in Africa. We were honored to receive honorary guests H.E. Mr. Diodorus B. Kamala, Ambassador of Tanzania, and Ms. Tebogo L. Motshome, Deputy Ambassador of Botswana. The reception presented good networking opportunities in a pleasant and open atmosphere. It was a pleasure to have the SANEC members at our office.”
Ruud Romijn - Area Manager Africa, Van Oord

Seminars & Workshops
SANEC facilitates various seminars and workshops on ‘hot’ topics with different partners. Sharing information, debating and networking are key during these events. Not seldom are seminars held in conjunction with sector specific trade missions and/or specific governmental bodies to highlight and keep up with the latest trends and developments.

“SANEC is helping me to improve my plan to move to South Africa. Through seminars I have been able to come into contact with other interested parties, both in the Netherlands and South Africa, in research and advise in urban planning.”
Ton Kolijn - KO&A

Business Breakfasts, Luncheon & Dinner
SANEC regularly facilitates intimate gatherings where cuisine and business are united. We bring parties from the private and the public sector together to discuss a topic, sector or trend. An interesting table host can be the secret ingredient to a successful and inspiring morning, afternoon or evening.

“At the invitation of SANEC we took part in the luncheon in Brussels on January 27 2014 for a meeting with a group of CEOs from Zimbabwe. The event proved to be an interesting opportunity for a top level meeting with a number of leading players. Zimbabwe was presented in a surprisingly positive way as a country with a high level of knowledge and a variety of business opportunities. A well-organized event for an easy access introduction.”
Onno Roelofs - STIG B.V.

SADC Ambassadors lunch
The annual SADC Ambassadors Lunch is the perfect opportunity to personally meet and interact with the various Ambassadors and Economic Councillors from the southern African Development Community (SADC) based in Brussels, The Hague or Pretoria, Johannesburg andCape Town. Naturally the Ambassadors Lunch is attended by high profile corporates, entrepreneurs and public organisations.

“The yearly SADC Ambassadors Lunch in the Netherlands, organised by SANEC, is always an interesting networking moment for the SADC Embassies. The combination of presentations for the entire audience, combined with personal networking at the various SADC Embassy tables are very fruitful. I am looking forward to the SADC Ambassadors Lunches to come.”
H.E. Hanno Rumpf - Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia

Annual Gala Dinner
SANEC´s annual highlight of the year is the Gala Dinner. An exclusive networking evening where decision-makers from business, government, sports, arts and media will come together and celebrate the economic ties between the Netherlands and South Africa. Every year the Gala Dinner has a special theme, with guest speakers on topic.

“The Annual Gala dinner is an excellent networking opportunity. Our brand received good exposure, and I met trading partners that we are currently doing business with.”
Ron Mackenzie - Parter at Urban & Safari

Quarterly roundtable and seminar
As of 2014 SANEC will be organizing quarterly roundtables and seminars on theme. These themes are related to topics such as B-BBEE and how to start up your business in Africa or Europe. These sessions will be organized by SANEC with the input and expertise from our members.

Supported events
Events hosted by members and partners can be supported by SANEC through our communication and marketing tools. We can broaden your audience by communicating to our network. If required, we can also assist in event organisation and matchmaking.

“With the support of SANEC we, the SA Capital Equipment Export Council, were able to offer our members a well-organised and successful event on the MAP Program, a beneficial manufacturing initiative.”
